17 MILES!!! YEAHH

Yuppers I ran 17 miles and not as a total during the week, but in one single long run! I felt wonderful and def. feel ready for Oct. in Maine.

Back to school tomorrow (Monday) and we close on the house on Friday! So I have a very exciting week ahead of me! :)

Many apologies for the non-updated Blog...Let me try to catch you up!

Hello everyone! I apologize for not updating this blog. It was so easy at the beginning, but as the summer progressed so many things have come up. I think I mentioned in one of my prior blogs that Derek and I are in the process of buying our first house. We close on August 29th...WOO HOO! We are so very excited!

As far as training goes, I fell of the bandwagon a little bit the past two weeks. I got back on this past week.
Wednesday August 13th - Met a few team members in Grafton for a short 6 mile run. This was a tough run for me as I fell of the bandwagon the prior week.
Come Saturday, I was ready to kick some major toosh!
Saturday, August 16th - Today was a long run, but no team run. Thanks to all the people that came out at 6 am to accommodate me due to having school this weekend. There were 6 of us that went out and ran 12.5 miles and let me tell you I felt freakin awesome. We ran the 12.5 miles in 2 hours. I set 2 goals...to end by 9:00 and to make it up North (which is around mile 10). Well I made both of my goals which I was very excited about. It was cool, when I got to the church parking lot the church bells rang for 9:00...it was an awesome feeling.

I am very excited that my mom is coming to watch me run in Maine! She is coming into town October 4th and get's to spend some time with me and Derek and watch me run.

As I mentioned in my last blog, I met my fundraising goal! That goal was my minimum amount needed for fundraising. I have increased my personal goal to $2500. If you haven't donated and would like to you still have plenty of time. Thanks to everyone!! :)

FUNDRAISING GOAL IS MET!!!!!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE GENEROUS DONATIONS!!!!

Today I met my fundraising goal of $2100.00.  It may not look like I met my goal, but I have $70 in checks be processed through the society.

I really appreciate everyone's support!

Any donations made here on out will go directly to research to help find a cure for blood cancer!

THANK YOU!!!!

It's a new week!!! :) I'm feeling good about it!

Monday, July 28 - Got up at 4:45 AM for a 6:00 run in Northborough! We ran 5 miles, woo hoo...we're off to a great start this week.  It can only get betttter :)

Sunday, July 27 - Much needed break day after the rough 12 miles yesterday.

Rough Week! 12 miles ... But we got a house!!!

So this was a bad week of training and running for me.  It def. showed me how important training is! The only day that I attempted to go out and run was on Wednesday with Dana.  We started off okay, but then I got pains and we ended up walking the rest of the way.

So Saturday came and I ran 12 miles.  At 3 miles Dana and I were convinced that we were stopping and the coach was going to give us a ride back to the church.  Well with a little pushing (well a lot) from our coach and mentor we ended up completing the 12 miles and it made me feel accomplished even if I didn't run the entire 12 miles.  Our mentor, Annelle said that when you're at mile 17, you may want to stop...but this is a test to keep you going. So we did end up finishing the 12 miles and I'm glad that I didn't stop.

Next week will be a much better week!!! I promise!!!

OHHH and good news, we put an offer on a house in Lunenburg, MA and they accepted it.  We are closing on August 29th! That is prob. another excuse to my craziness this week.  It was also torrential rains too!

Ahh, only running 5 miles...no big deal

Saturday, July 19 - Ran 11 miles!
I have to say I felt pretty good running this 11 miles.  Towards the end of the run Dana and I were saying F--- cancer, people that are fighting this disease are hurting much more then we are right now, and we were running for Sam's Girl (our dedication run) I'm not sure Sam is the name, but I think it is!

Goood Runnn! :) Feeling good about myself and this whole running thing! Such a huge accomplishment!

Thursday, July 16 - Volunteered with the LLS for the Weston 5 miler.  Had a good time ringing my cow bell waving people.  It was a good experience!

Tuesday, July 15 -
Went for a 5 mile run in Northboro with Dana...she found a nice little 5 mile route. It's funny because I said to Locke (The mom of the kiddos that I babysit for) that I was only running 5 miles and she said isn't it amazing when you get to a certain point that you can say you are only running 5 miles. :) Felt great!!!
11 Miles on Sunday!!!

Please remember to donate if you haven't already. I'm trying to reach my goal of $290.00 by August 1 which is my recommitment date. Thanks for all of your support! :)

Sunday, July 13 - Monday, July 14 -
Break Days
However, on Monday I did some more trampoline jumping and swimming in the pool with the kids.

Hot Hot Week!!!

Saturday, July 12 - 10 miles...WOO HOO!! In the double digits :)
Ran an amazing 10 miles with the team in Grafton.  It really felt awesome to complete 10 miles and to get into the double digits.  Ran the entire 10 miles, NO WALKING :) Amazing what you can do when your running with others (Thanks Dana and Kathryn).

Friday, July 11 - I was feeling a little weak from yesterday's run so I took it easy, no trampoline and no run.  10 miles tomorrow!! :)

Thursday, July 10 - 6 miles and some serious jumping on the trampoline!

Ran 6 miles in Leominster today by myself, or I should say walk/run, however I mostly ran. I came across some SUPER steap hills, ran part of them and walked the others. Towards the end I started to get really bad cramps so I walked the rest of the way home.

The family that I work for during the summer bought a new trampline for the kiddos and we did some serious jumping on that thing for most of the day. I have a feeling my legs are going to be feeling a little weak tomorrow.

I feel pretty accomplished today! :)

****I only have $290.00 to raise and I really want to raise is by August 1st, which is my recommitment date...If I raise all my money by then I get a free hat! LOL, I know it's only a hat, but it would be an awesome goal!!! :) Every little bit helps, so if you're reading this and you haven't donated, please feel free to click on my fundraising link on the right and donate....remember no amount is tooo small! :) Thanks a bunch!

Wednesday, July 9 - RED SOX GAME with Missy! :)

Hoping to run in the morning while Wallace is at swimming or tennis. I'll let yah know!!
GO SOX! :)

**Did not end up running, it was tooo tooo hot! I'm not doing so good this week...not to worry, I will catch back up!

Tuesday, July 8 - 2 miles
Wow, it was a hot day out today!!! I only ran 2 miles, but came back dripping with sweat. I could've gone further, but wanted to make sure I was back in time to pick up one of the kids from Tennis, so to play it on the safe side, I cut the run short.

Sunday, July 6 - Monday, July 7 - Break Days

Friday, July 4, 2008

Better Week!! June 30 - July 5

Saturday, July 5 -
9 MILES!!! I ran a full 9 miles and did awesome doing it. At mile 7.5 I met up with the Merriam Hill, which was difficult but I pushed myself up it. I ran that far and that hill was not going to stop me and it didn't. I kept pointing to the sky and saying this is for you Russ and was talking to myself...and hey I got up it. I have never been so proud of myself and I am confident that I can continue running further distances!

Only 5 people showed up to the run today, as it was a holiday weekend. I ran the first 3.5 miles with Heather and then continued the rest of the journey by myself, which is even more shocking . I thought running alone was going to be difficult, but I did it! :) I'm already excited to run 10 miles next week (hopefully?? I'm hoping that my professor will let me take the morning off again???)

Friday, July 4 - Happy 4th of July!!
Well we were going to go into Boston, but I ended up sick all day :( ... Bummer! I think Dunkin Donuts gave me an iced coffee with caffeine instead of a decaf, which made me not goood! So we stayed home (that's when you know that I'm sick, when I don't want to go into Boston).

Thursday, July 3 - Good Thing I watched the weather last night, b/c I canceled my run with Dana (sorry Dana) and ran in the morning. I ran a beautiful course in Weston, looking at some of the most beautiful houses. I only ran 2.7 miles and almost got lost. Good think I went with my instinct b/c otherwise I def. would've ended up lost and late to pick up the kiddos from swimming. I mapped out the course and have a good idea of where I'm going now and possibly making it a little longer. :)
9 miles on Saturday!! Say a little prayer for me!

Wednesday, July 2 - Back home in Massachusetts...First day back to work or kid sitting I like to call it. Hung out with my Ogen friends today. Pretty stormy day and I came home to ANTS...UGH!! So I went on a major cleaning spree as soon as I got home. Going for a six mile run tomorrow with Dana in Grafton :)

Tuesday, July 1 - Well I had every intention of running 8 miles, I had it all mapped out and everything...Well I only ran 2.5 and walked 1 mile. A little running mixed with some cross training. (Remember I'm on vacation)

Monday, June 30 - Went for a run around Bemus Point, which was nice around the lake and back home. I think I ran about 3 miles, which was good considering the night before (hey remember I'm on vacation).

June 15 -29

Friday, June 27 - Sunday, June 29 - I was on vacation back in NY and I was very bad and did not run at all these three days. I had lots of fun with family and friends and promise to get back on track!!

Thursday, June 26 - Met up with Dana in Grafton for a nice 4.2 mile run and I feel great! :)
Excited to go home tonight :) ... Should be interesting running in NY ... I think I might like it b/c I live close to a lake and can run along it, which will be nice.
(Sorry if I don't update it in a couple days...I will be sure to update when I get back on Tuesday!)

Wednesday, June 25 - No training today ... Need to start cross training, very impt!! I did go shopping for a wicked cute outfit to wear on Sunday, which is the Bemus 10K in Bemus Point, NY. I'm excited to run my first race.

I also started a new facebook page, check it out!!!
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=21142751637
Feel free to join in on the challenge!

Tuesday, June 24 - Woke up early again and had a nice 3.2 mile run around my neighborhood. It turned out to be a pretty good run! I've been having a hard time running by myself, but today was awesome and I kept pushing myself to keep going. I tried a couple times going a shorter way or cutting distances, but I kept telling myself not to and in the end I did great and finished it all! :) YEAH :)

Monday, June 23 - I was up nice and early to run in Grafton, but the sky was black and the radar wasn't looking pretty either. Basically it rained and stormed ALL day long.

Sunday, June 22 - I was a complete lazy lazy lazy person today. However I did take Derek to Grafton and showed him around my routes. However the main reason was to pick up my sneakers at the church, because I left them there. Thank goodness it was a church and they were still in the same place that I left them. Going to meet Dana in Grafton tomorrow for a nice Mon. morning 4 mile run.

Saturday, June 21 - Well well well, were do I start??!! Had the team run in Grafton today, was a little nervous that I had to run 7 miles but ohh let me tell you, I kicked some bum!! I ran with Dana, one of the girls on my team, and we both kept on going and doing awesome. We ran through Tufts and saw all kinds of animals, yes I was even mooing at some of the cows. It was really pretty country and let me tell you when I got to 3.5 miles I couldn't believe it was ONLY 3.5. Not exactly sure what mile it was, maybe 5.5, well it was up good ole North Street Hill, and I was doing a strategy that our coach gave us, go up it in a S formation and I decided to make it fun. I was swaying from side to side oh yes with arms and all...the more fun you make it the easier it seems to be. Well I made it up the entire hill, running...yes no walking!!! It was a great run and sad I won't be running with the team on Sat. b/c I will be home. Hopefully I have an awesome experience running the Bemus 10K next Sunday back home.

Time wise, the mileage ended up being about 10 minute miles...which is pretty damn amazing for me!!! :)

Friday, June 20 - Woke up on my own at 7:00 (amazing I didn't need my alarm) and got up to do a run in downtown Leominster. Did a nice little loop...Started at the library and ran up West Street and down Merriam back to the library. Very easy loop without hills. I think it was around 3-3 1/2 miles. Took it easy, because I have to run 7 miles tomorrow AM!!!

Thursday, June 19 - Last day of school, stayed for a while and did some packing. Moving from kindergarten to first grade. Seeing it was the last day of school, I didn't feel the need to do much. Loved starting my summer vacation. Looking forward to waking up early and running.

Wednesday, June 18 - Last day of school with my kids. It was field day today, so I had the opportunity to participate in some of the activities which I can consider some cross training. One of the games was something to do with fish and you had to run from one side to the other so you wouldn't get caught. Being the only teacher playing, the kids were after me so I was sprinting to get to the other side.

Went to a meeting in Westboro at Starbucks with team about fundraising. Heard some interesting fundraising ideas!!??

Tuesday, June 17 - GO CELTICS!!!! :)
Ran 3 miles today up a lot of hills! Pheww it was a hard 3 miles!! I was missing my right hand companion while running today....Yes I ran w/out my water bottle. Didn't like it, and I went to put my I-Pod on and it was dead...so no water, no music, nobody to talk too I was paying way to much attention to being tired! BUT I ran! :)

Monday, June 16 - Well right now I'm waiting for a storm to pass and then hoping to head out for a 3 mile run with hills. Getting a day ahead of myself in my training, but should be fine.
9:52 - Well the huge black clouds loomed and loomed, radar kept moving and nothing...Well some rain and rumbles of thunder. 2 days in a row of no running....Will def. get my butt in gear tomorrow! :)

Sunday, June 15 - Rest...my legs were a hurting!! I should've done a recovery run today, but I didn't.

Monday, June 9, 2008

June 8 - June 14 Training

Saturday, June 14 - Ran 6 miles with team in Grafton.
Our run was dedicated to Russ! :)

Friday, June 13 - Took a break...wicked tired and volunteered at Harvard's Fun Fair...I did a lot of walking today!! :)

Thursday, June 12 - Updating this on Monday and I completely forgot what I did today? Need to keep better track!!! Maybe some Cross Training at the gym??

Wednesday, June 11 - Went for a 3 1/2 mile run today, wasn't one of my best runs, but I got out there and ran. The worst is when you go to drink water when your running and it goes down the wrong tube, yeah not soooo nice...almost choked. It was another hot day today, but I need to get used to it b/c I am training during the summer! Hey it could be worse, it could be winter and -2 ... Anyways loooking forward to running on Sat. with my running buddies. It's always better when your running with someone.

Tuesday, June 10 - Wow, it was super hot today!!! It didn't even cool off for me to take a creepy night time run. So I decided to stay inside in the nice air conditioner.

Monday, June 9 - Was really motivated to run or do something today despite the 90+ degree weather. So I went to Yoga, but that wasn't satisfying enough so when I got home around 8:30 decided to go for a night time run...not too sure I like that! It was a little spooky for me. One part I started to sprint b/c it was tooo dark and kinda like a scene out of a scary movie. But in the grand scheme of things I did a run/walk 3 1/2 miles...it was wicked hot and I had also done Yoga earlier. Excited for Wednesday when the temps go back down to the 70s...much better running weather. :)

Sunday, June 8 - Did not run, b/c I had school early in the morning until later in the afternoon...crazy heat wave! Will run tomorrow sometime during the heat??!!

Sunday, June 1, 2008

June 1-June 7 Training

Saturday, June 7 - Sooo, I ran...are you ready............7 miles today!!! Yes, 7! Our crazy coach gave us pretty bad directions so we all interpreted it wrong and ran some extra miles. We did walk up a steep hill at mile 5 1/2 so I didn't technically run the full 7 miles, but it was pretty damn close!! It was a great feeling when I was all done! :) YEAH :) ... Then went to class at 10:30 and sat in my sweaty cloths until 3:00...oh yeah it was nice!

Friday, June 6 - Had class until 9:00 and didn't get home until 9:30...long run tomorrow!

Thursday, June 5 - GO CELTICS!!!! BEAT LA!!!
Went for a run and felt great! I thought I might be a little out of it, b/c I took THREE days off, I promise not to do that again! But it was good. 5 miles on Saturday. I have school this wkend and it's supposed to 90 degrees so it shall be interesting! :)

Wednesday, June 4 - Took another day off, def. will be running tomorrow rain or shine!

Tuesday, June 3 - Happy Birthday Mom! :) No Run today...I know it's bad! I will try to go tomorrow! So tired.

Monday, June 2 -
Jumping ahead of myself (writing this on Sunday) - According to my training schedule it is a BREAK DAY! See you all again on Tuesday :).

Sunday, June 1 -Followed my training schedule and ran what's called a 2 mile recovery run...recovering from my 4 mile run yesterday. However, I felt wonderful today, so it did not feel like a recovery run...just a great short run!

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

May 25-May 31

Saturday, May 31 - RAN AN ENTIRE 4 MILES!!!! I did not stop once and kept on going. When I felt like I was going to stop, I looked up in the sky and said this is for you (Russ). It gave me the strength and motivation to push even harder! :) Our coach goofed on the mileage, I had thought we were running 5 miles today, but it was supposed to only be 4...we all ran 4! Next week I will run 5 miles which should be fantastic!! :)

Friday, May 30 - Break day before my long run on Saturday. Had a nice pasta dinner for my long run tomorrow :)

Thursday, May 29 - Had an awesome 2 1/2 mile run!! I felt like I could have kept running, which I should have done, but ended up back home sweating and hungry! Looking forward to Saturday's 5 mile run!!! I really believe that I can do it!!! :) YEAH :)

Wednesday, May 28 - Break Day, didn't feel too well and had a meeting until 5:00...running everyother day so I don't get burnt out! I'll make tomorrow a great run!! :)

Tuesday, May 27 - Had an awesome 2 mile run around my neighborhood. I found an awesome little route that I can easily make longer as my runs get longer. The only problem is there are a lot of hills around me, but it will be fine! I'm so excited that I got my very first donation today!!! Thanks a bunch Linda (my mother-in-law)!!! It really made me even more motivated to run today!!! I felt great!!

Monday, May 26 and Sunday, May 25 - Memorial Day weekend! Went up to Maine to celebrate our 1 year wedding annversary...I skipped out on my training for two days...I'll make up for it!! :)

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Week of May 18 - May 24, 2008

Saturday, May 24 -Got married on this day last year, except it was on the 26th...Great Memories!!! :) **Ran 3 miles with the team in Grafton. I'm very excited about going through this whole process. I need to start to kick up the fundraising! Going to get letters together tonight and hopefully send them out next week...SOOO check you mailboxes and please donate.

Friday, May 23 - Break Day before run tomorrow morning!

Thursday, May 22 - Tried running at the gym, but going round and round the track is NOT for me...Won't be doing that again. Ran about 2 1/2 miles

Wednesday, May 21 - Break Day!

Tuesday, May 20 - 2 mile run...wow it is much easier running with a group. I found it easier running 3 miles (on Sat.) with a group of people then 2 miles alone. In need of a running buddy!!!

Monday, May 19 - Break Day!

Sunday, May 18 - Went for a 7 mile bike ride with Derek! :)

Saturday, May 17, 2008

First Training!!

YEAH, so I ran 3 miles, yes that's right 3 miles! At the one mile marker I was feeling so great that I decided to run 3 miles instead of 2. I felt great during the overall run, had some awesome breathing...no huffing and puffing. Love running with other people, def. very helpful! I'm excited and feel that I can really accomplish this! :)

May 18th -
Went for a 7 mile bike ride with Derek!
